About

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I’m Sarah Thompson, and as I’m sure you could tell by the title of my blog I am a wife. But I’m also much more than that. I’m a mom, daughter, friend, sister, business owner, coffee lover, and Jesus follower. Wearing all of those different hats can be time consuming and exhausting. So, I started this blog to encourage other wives and mothers who, like me, need encouragement from time to time.

If you are looking for soft soothing words and flowery, eloquent prose you won’t find that on this blog. I’m more of a sarcastic, movie quoting, pop culture referencing kinda gal. I will use the word literally when I mean figuratively probably a hundred times in each blog…. I’m not a trained writer nor do I pretend to be. So, if that bothers you, you should literally leave and check out another blog. Just kidding, please stick around, friend.

IMG_2504As I said, I am a wife. I have been married to my husband Michael for 10 years.  We actually went to the same high school but never dated. Believe it or not, we sat at the same lunch table our junior year.  Who would have thought that years later we would meet back up and get married?! It’s been a crazy journey so far.  But I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to navigate this life with anyone else. He calmly listens to me when I over analyze everything and gives me practical, rational advice when I’ve already jumped to worst case scenario.  We are both also fans of Harry Potter, Marvel and Lord of the Rings and we can have fan theory discussions that go well into the night.

Hunter is my 8-year-old.  He is super smart (all moms say this about their kids, insert eye roll here.)  He’s had an engineer’s brain since he was born. He’s constantly taking things apart and building his own “inventions”.  Sometimes I’m not sure if I’m raising a genius or Sid from Toy Story! He’s also a video game wiz, he specifically loves Zelda and Minecraft.  Hunter joined the cross-country team this year and he blows me away with his fast running, endurance and dedication. I feel humbled and honored every day that God choose me to be his mother.

Miles is my second born. Miles, Miles, Miles… How do I begin to describe Miles?  He’s 5 years old going on 75.  He’s an old soul and my sister and I are always joking that he’s a time traveler.  He speaks very properly and has an expansive vocabulary for a 5-year-old which simultaneously makes us laugh and keeps us on our toes.  He loves Legos, Imaginext toys, and any craft that involves using my entire roll of scotch tape.  Miles is so lovable, and we are blessed to have him in our family.

Clare is our newest addition who joined our family in January 2022.  She is the sweetest and cutest little thing.  She loves watching her brothers and laughing at everything they do.  She’s a Gerber puff’s connoisseur and would eat a whole container in one sitting if I let her. (Don’t worry, I won’t let her.)  She also loves our dogs and I think she’s already imitating them because she is constantly crawling around our house with toys hanging out of her mouth just like a puppy.  Clare joined our family after we suffered 2 heartbreaking miscarriages in a row.  So, she is our daily reminder of God’s mercy and steadfast love.

We also have 2 furry family members. Albus Dumbledore is our yellow lab who is almost 10 years old.  Like his namesake, he’s smart and loyal.  And Bruce Banner is our 1 year old Bichon. He’s a crazy puppy who may be small, but he lives up to the reputation of his namesake as well by being quite a Hulk.

So now you know a little bit about my family and I.  I’m sure more will be discovered as this blog progresses. We all have a story, a past, that makes us who we are.  I truly believe God has shaped me into the wife and mother I am today because of my broken past. Outsiders can look at your life and make assumptions.  But only you have lived through your past. And I can say with certainty that even before I knew He was there, God was guiding me, protecting me and calling to me. He gets all the glory and credit for who I am today.  Because without Him I have nothing, and I am nothing. My hope for this blog is that you’ll read it, feel encouraged, maybe laugh, but most importantly realized you are not alone in this crazy role of being a wife and mom. You’ve definitely got a friend in me (another Toy Story reference, I told you movie quotes would abound) But more importantly you’ve got a friend in Jesus, and if you don’t already know it, He is truly the best friend any wife and mother can ask for.
